Nevergone Oh what do I have to do now sister, Another time around the wheel. Oh where can I fly now mother, Another time around the wheel. The links in this chain still bind me tight The night moves slow the night moves fast. First watch has ended, the second just begun, The night moves slow the night moves fast. Weep silently with me child, For I can find no peace. The race is only half run now, I can find no peace. Step slowly with me sister, For there is no place we can rest. This hill climbs on for miles now, There is no place we can rest. I’ll carry you on my back brother, My legs still remain strong. On our fathers’ land we will lay us down, My legs still remain strong. We’ll bathe in the rivers we waded in when young, And clover honey will we sip. We’ll annoint our children with scented oil, And clover honey will we sip. Look into my eyes child: What you see is nevergone. The footprints we now leave behind: What you see is nevergone. The poetry we together create: What you see is nevergone. The light that shines at midnight’s break: What you see is nevergone. lovers touching a blind old woman a potter making pots lovers touching a monkey picking fruit a man on a journey a many-windowed house lovers touching arrows piercing eyes eating and drinking a girl picking fruit lovers touching a pregnant woman delivering a child a corpse being carried away lovers touching

Dance Fly and ride sister trip, Surf on the crest of the wave wall Shoot down a hundred thousand miles an hour glide Moan through the disembodied mourning of self-expression Concealment. Burst open: a morning-gold explosion of multi-colored sparks Rays prismatic Chromatic swoop of wings Slow to a grind Halt and pant on the floor. Sweat dripping to your feet spin- Swoon into the dharma blues again. Copyright Flowpoetry

Withinindra Within Indra’s net a thousand jewels reside of this we are sure within the fold of silence a thousand jewels burst forth of this we are sure within the lap of the lake a million fish frolic fancifully of this we are sure within the cradle of music thousands dance out their sorrows and pray for peace of this we are sure within the next wave a flow will flow just as it flows now flow within the apocalyptic resonance of this shout ten thousand sparkling daises will bloom at the end of a gun and force their roots down through the barrel in order to make love to the trigger of this we are sure within the blink of an eye 50,000 died were imprisoned and never returned of this we are sure within the climb it takes a roller coaster to crest the second to the largest rise at the amusement park a thousand damselflies will take wing and spread light into the sun, foolish yes but of this we are sure within the time a word is spoken or within the space it takes to pour a pot of tea a roundness Gary Snyder I went to see Gary Snyder read, And how he tied his shoes: He wore boots without any laces. When he poured water into a drinking glass Wobbly atop a stool with of course one of three legs shorter than the others Everyone waited, and held their breath: He didn’t spill a drop. And he cut off two heads, And didn’t answer the questions that he didn’t want to. And he said, “This present moment Will live in the future as long ago.” And so it will as will this one and the next one. And my head rang like a wind chime. And he sang stories about bear scat. Later I dreamed I was hanging out with Gary Snyder. I said, “I’m interested in Buddhism.” He said, “I’m not interested in Buddhism. I’m interested in insect repellent.”

Horseshoe Bend I warn you boys When you get to Horseshoe Bend You’d be wise to heed my advice: Work hard each day, sleep light every night Store your sugar and coffee in jars that are tight Stock up that medicine chest with bandages white Make sure your room has walls filled with sand. But don’t you never take your six-shooters off And always keep your rifle within easy reach. Hear the click of the hail and the Mail Train rushing by Know the only man on the plains is your reflection Feel the blood in your veins and ease all your pains I’ll sing you disappearing out into the gloaming. I warn you boys When you get to Horseshoe Bend You’d be wise to heed my advice: Work in a section gang and never be late Get a brace of four mules and haul some freight Take your buck fifty every day, just tuck it away Leave Silky and her sisters all alone. Still don’t you never take your six-shooters off And always keep your rifle within easy reach. Hear the rails start to sing and the freight rolling by See the caboose gently drop off the horizon Set a candle in the night say your prayers it’ll be alright I’ll sing you disappearing out into the gloaming.

Sacramento Stealin' Within the mountains we laid us down, With snow for our pillows and a blanket made of ice. Easy Jim, Omaha Slim and I A three day ride. A three day chase, A three day nightmare: Stealing gold out of Sacramento, You'd better be prepared to bleed. Omaha Slim had that look in her eye Just like the night that she ran the table. A look like that makes a man scared in bed, Like lying down near a knife wrapped in sable. And Easy Jim the cowpoke from the coast, Now he was a strange one to contemplate, Didn’t drink or smoke, grew up irate. Stealing gold out of Sacramento, Stealing gold out of Sacramento, You'd better be prepared to bleed. Have you once felt your horse gallop in fright, And the wind on your neck made you scream? Have you once heard a bullet pass by in the night, And snarl and spit through its quicksilver gleam? We faced an eagle on an outcropping above the tree line, Watched for dust trails in the valley until we grew blind, Loaded our Remingtons in the saddle and dodged shot from behind. Stealing gold out of Sacramento, You'd better be prepared to bleed. Gold to the left and gold to the right Sometimes it’s all I can think of Death to the left and death to the right Sometimes it’s all I can think of A bullet to the left a bullet to the right Sometimes it’s all I can think of A blink to the left a wink to the right There are some things that no one should speak of. Stealing gold out of Sacramento, You'd better be prepared to bleed.

Have You Seen Me Have you seen me said Amos to the moon? I've been walking for 10 long days, The road is long and it's like a maze. Have you seen me said Amos to the moon? Can you hear me said Amos to the wind? I've been singing my song, I've caught you humming along. Can you hear me said Amos to the wind? Please shelter me said Amos to the trees. Stretch your arms up over my head, Lay down your leaves for my bed. Please shelter me said Amos to the trees. Will you hold me said Amos to the ground? I've been walking this road since dawn, Night has fallen and the sun's withdrawn. Will you hold me said Amos to the ground? Fare thee well said Amos to the stars. I'll wink back at you some night, Where the city lights aren't so bright. Fare thee well said Amos to the stars.

Firefly 05:44
Firefly This is not for the squeamish and those afraid of dark, Afraid of gone to new day like fireflies without sparks. Those rubber ducky babies with silver spoons all tucked in bed. Hyena howling tiger lillies stretched waiting for the dead. Wooky bearded babas squatting in the dust smoking head. This is for the hurried few dragged along by teams of dogs, Stuck beside heart’s ditch of mud cast ashore like driftwood logs. Sand strewn nymphs red ball bounce upon the beach. Bowler capped boys chuckling tweak the beast, New York bound cats grin ants stuck in their teeth. Where were you when the lights went out? Lights out in New York City, in every borough Maybe he looks like you, maybe he looks like me. Staten Island, Brooklyn, The Bronx, Queens and Manhattan, Maybe he looks like you Maybe he looks like me. So come all ye’ hula hooping maidens gamboling on the lawn, Frogs a’courting moonbeams and velvet painted dawn. Silver saddle stirrups and guitars made of rain. Wing footed Fleet streeters dancing out the pain. Tree hugging butterflies with no need to explain. Where were you when the lights went out?

He's got drones that fly up to the sky On remote control wings He's got cars that glide through out the night With radios that never sing He's got a gun that shoots a thousand miles And hits a nail on its head He's got missiles stockpiled high and wide, All filled with poison, fear, and dread So come along and groove with us Under these technicolor skies We've got each other to lean and dream on, We're right here side by side We've got drums and hoops and spinning flames That light up all the dark I'll give you mine if yours is gone Together we can make a spark I said go around and see him It's a full-on hit I said go around and see him And then you'd better dip Didyasewhatisaw?

The Ticking Of The Earth They say we’ve arrived But we don’t know where It’s like déjà vu and hey What are you worth? They say have a seat You seem a bit beat Well, I can hear the ticking of the earth. Tick Tock There’s something ticking in the ground There’s something ticking in the ground Theres something tick tock tick tock tick tock tick tock ticking in the ground Well the polar caps are melting And the glaciers moving back. In my daydream silent sunbeam In my nighmare, nature’s cracked. And the desert’s blooming gunpowder The seas are choked with oil. In my daydream silent sunbeam In my nightmare, blood and soil. They say we’ve arrived But we don’t know when It’s a horse a’piece And pit bulls from birth. They say have a seat You seem a bit beat Well I can hear the ticking of the earth Tick Tock There’s something ticking in the ground There’s something ticking in the ground Theres something tick tock tick tock tick tock tick tock ticking in the ground Well the polar caps are melting And the glaciers moving back. In my daydream silent sunbeam In my nighmare, nature’s cracked. And the desert’s blooming gunpowder The seas are choked with oil. In my daydream silent sunbeam In my nightmare, blood and soil.

Some Carry Poems We are the ones who walk alone, All we have left is a bag for a home. We'll fill it with sticks and we'll fill it with stones, For we are the ones who walk alone. And we are the ones who march for peace, We'll march and march and never cease. You can bury our bodies, lay the flag on our bones, For we are the ones who walk alone. And we are the ones who hold hands in the night, To touch is a virtue, it pushes back fright. But when the morning birds become a drone, We'll still be the ones who walk alone. Yes we are the ones who walk alone, All we have left is the road for our home. Some carry guns but we carry poems, For we are the ones who walk alone. Terpsichore 06:26
Terpsichore Johnny Techno don’t rock just pop, Machine beat bop down at the hop. Silver string strum can’t make him stop, Jump jam jive, Mr. Lollipop. Eddie Punk don’t smile just skunk, Spit stain into the slam he slunk. Drum thump thunder won’t ease his funk, Slime street strut, Mr. Bag-of-Junk. Hayward House don’t dance just deprave, Ridge rides trance prance unto the rave. Jericho horns seal up his cave, Glance can tell no one rob this grave. Georgie Jam don’t jazzy just glam, Noodle headed runaway on the lam. Crystalline chord can’t crease his cram, Groundscore tweak, Mr. Swirly-scam. Kit Computer don’t think just blink, Plastic glare sit stare can’t see ink. Enter delete won’t de-odor his stink, Corporate shine, monolithic fink. Terpsichore just sit and sigh, So many little boys passing by. Cloud flow tree breeze soaring sky, Gaze in the water, (never) wonder why.

The Court Jester Insane: Look like you? Insane: Do like they do? Insane: Say what they say? Insane: Play the games that they play? Well, if we were just like them who exactly would we be? I’ll sit here and drink my tea, don’t have to be anyone but me, I don’t have to be anywhere but here, you don’t have to be but who you are, Going to go far or near or not at all, up to the stall and have a ball. Check it all out and twirl it around matching up heavy, Pound for pound of muscle and might and do it all right, With flowers of power and smoke that is waving, Scenting and wafting, ranting and raving From here until there, all points in between, The black and the white, the king and the queen. The court jester who danced by himself in a waltz at the Ball, Who tore through the wall and into the hall, To look at them all and fall down laughing, Shaking and baking, ranting and raving “It’s all a big game!” he said with a shout, Play-acting and re-acting, can’t you figure it out? And into the sky he rode with a smile, To figure it out is going to take a long while. Or maybe like a snap like a flash of light, awake in the dark with the end in sight, Or down in a hole or up on a cloud, Or yelling it out, Louder than loud.
